-The Haskell School of Expression I've already read the above, so I won't buy them again. I am reading “Haskell School of Expression” (I'm considering using it as learning material for teaching beginners), and it also says (from memory, not exact quote): “You can think of values as functions of 0 arguments”. I picked up "The Haskell School of Expression", Paul Hudak, from Yale, in it's 7th printing, 2007. I stuck with SDL (standard in 2D, quite mature, input handling included). Alex says: May 25, 2009 at 4:59 pm. Thanks a lot for all the encouragement! I think I would buy: "Smalltalk the language and the implementation" (The blue book)and "Types and Programming languages". But Hudak seems to take forever to dish out the language. I am long time imperative programmers (C/C++/Java) that feel I have reached a point where I need a paradigm shift. I'll also add a vote for The Haskell School of Expression which is one of the best CS books I've ever read - certainly on a par with SICP and On Lisp (two other favourites). 2, no more activity); HGL based on book The Haskell School of Expression; GLFW, GLUT, GLUT: as a last option, doing the low-level stuff manually. What text(s) did you find useful in learning Haskell? This looks much like Haskore … have you perchance been reading the Haskell School of Expression? Mmm A book which I like too and which is quite thin (for me indeed) is the one written by Hudak (the haskell school of expression). Potts said I have not read Hudak's book yet.
